Ameesha Patel, who plays a Punjabi girl opposite Sunny Deol in Anil Sharma's next, Singh Saheb The Great, is excited about teaming up with the director after more than a decade (they did Gadar: Ek Prem Katha together in 2001).
The offer took her by surprise. She reveals, "I was celebrating Ganeshotsav in my office when I got a call from Anil Sharma asking if we could meet. I thought he just wanted to casually come over. In the evening, when we met and he gave me a brief narration and asked if I would be open to playing the lead, I was like, 'Oh my God! This is so unexpected.' The auspicious mood only added to my joy of saying yes to the film."
"Anil and I share a comfort level as a director and an actor. When we came together for the first time, I was still raw, yet he extracted a superlative performance from me. Post that, there were other offers by him but I wanted to do a film that would justify our coming together. And Singh Saheb The Great does that. I am proud to be back working with him and I'm confident that he will get the best out of me this time too," adds Ameesha.
The actress says, "Whether it is Shortcut Romeo or Race 2, every film has me doing something different. Plus, there's Desi Magic under my home banner with me playing a double role."
Ameesha Tweeted : Thank u everyone for all ur good wishes on my new film w the Gadar dream team..I'm soo happy 2 b able 2 finali share it with all of u
