Ameesha Patel is ready with her maiden
production venture, 'Desi Magic'. The actress, who will be seen in a
double role, will romance Zayed Khan and Sahil Shroff in the romantic
comedy. Says she, "It took two years for Kunal Goomer, my partner, to
make this dream a reality. The story is entirely his brainchild. As a
producer, he has given me my toughest film ever. I play a double role --
one of a modern girl from Budapest and the other, an extremely simple
girl from Punjab."
Zayed, who will be seen on
screen after a while, says he has found his groove back. "I am glad I
took time off to reflect. This role has everything I wanted. Earlier I
did a lot of roles for the sake of passion and friendship. This is
probably the first time that I have approached a film professionally. I
play a mature guy, someone who isn't your typical Romeo. He is worldly
wise. Ameesha has never looked hotter. I think this sexy image is really
working for her."
For Sahil, working in the film was a breeze,
all thanks to his camaraderie with Ameesha and Zayed. " I play a very
new age guy who loves his life, his job, and basically lives his life on
his terms. Ameesha has become a friend. She is very easy-going and
professional. She knows her job well, so I got to learn a lot. Zayed and
I hit it off from day one. He is a great guy and fun to be around."

Silver screen beckons
I am making my Bollywood debut as a music composer very soon," says the
DJ. "The film for which I am composing music is Desi Magic. Actress
Ameesha Patel is producing this movie. Though I have a good music sense
and people love grooving on my remixes in clubs, but composing music for
a film was a difficult task for me. When I met Ameesha she told me that
she just wanted three tracks for the film in my own style. That sounded
easy and I agreed to give music for the film," says Aqeel.
Kishore Da is the best
Aqeel's fondness for Kishore Kumar songs is very evident as most of his
remixes are of the legendary singer. "I have always loved the songs of
Kishore Da. He was not only a versatile singer, his singing had a
uniqueness which none of the singers of that time had. Be it his Dil Kya
Kare, Chalte Chalte or Pyar Manga Hai, I have remixed so many of his
songs. All these remixes gained a lot of popularity because they
provided music lovers with a melodious combination of Kishore Da's songs
with a packaging of present day club music. But one thing I would like
to clear here is that remixing Kishore Da's is one of the most difficult
thing for any DJ because the songs of those times were slow and
remixing it with fast music, is no easy job," says the DJ.
My dream was to fly
Deejaying was not Aqeel's first love, he reveals. "I wanted to be a
commercial pilot initially but when I started thinking about it
seriously I became scared. And that made me think of music. I started to
play music occasionally at friend's parties which they used to love.
They would often suggest that I take up the hobby seriously and that's
how I became a DJ by default. Now, music gives me a high," reminisces
Aqeel.
Zayed Khan and Ameesha Patel, who will be paired opposite each other
in Ameesha Patel Productions' maiden venture Desi Magic, are excited
with the fresh paring of them together along with Saahil Shroff as
well
The three are looking cool, young and fresh together, which will be one
of the high points of the film. Since these days the audience wants to
see fresh and new pairings on screen as it has become a trend of sorts,
the
three of them coming together for the first time will surely create hype
for the film.
Zayed being the central character in the film will bring a lot of twists
and turns that will take the film to a very exciting level.
Ameesha
and her business partner Kuunal Goomer feel that with less then two
weeks to go on floors, Zayed's designer Shahid Amir is working very hard
to create a new fresh look for the actor, while Manish Malhotra is
already working on Ameesha's double role-look in the film.
Ameesha feels Zayed is not just good looking and a great human being but
also a naturally stylish actor, who just needs the correct role that
justifies his charming personality. The actress feels Zayed's role in
Desi
Magic will actually showcase a different side to his performance.
Model Sahil Shroff will play Ameesha Patel's male
lead in Desi Magic. He will portray a businessman, who is based in
Venice. The film has Ameesha in a double role — as a sweet Punjabi girl
and a spoilt rich brat. It is yet to be decided who Sahil will romance
on screen.
Though the film is yet to hit floors, the lead
actors have hit it off from day one. Their chemistry, we hear, was
apparent even during a recent photoshoot. "The two vibed very well and
their positivity reflected in the photos," said a source.
Producer Kunal Goomer said, "Ours is a colourful and youthful film that
provides wholesome entertainment. Ameesha and Sahil have attended a few
workshops together and get along very well. We are sure their pairing
will click with the audience."

According to our Sources from Kuunal Goomer co-producer of Ameesha patel Productions (APP) He Tweeted "Desi magic..shooting starts in mumbai fr 10 days from july 2nd..then 45 days back to back shoot at Budapest ..then followed 10 days in punjab.
Ameesha Patel has begun preparing for her maiden production venture, Desi Magic. She has roped in designer Manish Malhotra to work on the costumes.
The actress essays a double role — that of a sweet Punjabi girl and a
spoilt rich brat from Budapest. These days, both Ameesha and Manish are
busy brainstorming over her characters' look.
Says Ameesha,
"Post Cannes, Manish and I are taking a step forward. I feel he can do
justice to both my characters. When I offered him the opportunity, he
felt that it would be challenging to design two contrasting looks. We
are going to finalise the costumes soon, as our schedule is expected to
start in a few weeks."
Says producer Kunal Goomer, "Who better than Manish to design for a film like Desi Magic, where there is glamour and family values?"
