Ameesha Patel Says a Dance Performance with Zayed Khan is what she considers her actual Bollywood Debut..
Way back in 2000, Ameesha Patel acted in her first Bollywood film,
Kaho Naa… Pyaar Hai (KNPH; 2000), along with Hrithik Roshan. The film
proved to be a surprise hit, given that it had two unknown actors in the
lead.
Naturally, it proved to be a tremendous platform for its actors, and they were both offered a bunch of films. But while Hrithik went from strength to strength, Ameesha has since almost become a forgotten name. She surfaces only now and then with bit roles in multi-starrers.
The actor, however, is known to seize every chance to be in the news. This time, she has actually gone ahead and said that she does not consider KNPH (her only real claim to fame) her Bollywood debut. Instead, she claims that she debuted with another nearly forgotten actor, Zayed Khan. “Zayed has been family to me. I must tell you that I actually debuted in a way with him and not with Hrithik. It was his sister Farah and brother-in-law Aqeel’s sangeet ceremony, where Zayed and I danced in the presence of Shah Rukh Khan,” says Ameesha.
Zayed also recalls the performance, because SRK apparently praised them after watching them dance together. “Ameesha and me go back a long way. We performed our first skit together. We were totally raw then. But, Shah Rukh, who was present at the do, praised us for our potential.” Interestingly, back when KNPH released, Ameesha was reportedly miffed that Hrithik got more limelight than her.
